Course Description: This is a beginning Spanish course that assumes no prior knowledge of the Spanish language. It will help students to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and will teach them to recognize and use good pronunciation. Through the year we will learn basic vocabulary and grammar structures, and explore the different cultures and customs of Spanish speaking people around the world.
Textbook and other resources: The textbook for the year is Buen Viaje Level 1. Students will also be given other handouts and CDs to work with at home.
Recommended study time outside of class: 3-5 hours per week.
Background of instructor: Melissa Lonas is a graduate of homeschooling and has spent small amounts of time in several different Spanish speaking countries. She took Spanish with BRTC for three years in high school and has continued studying in her spare time. She has also tutored several Spanish students. She has a love for the language and can’t wait to share it with her class!
Cost: $200 per semester, plus one-time fee of $25 for student textbook and copy fees. $185 for registration before August 1st.
